Jim Ovia scholarship which was formerly known as MUSTE scholarship is a fully funded undergraduate program for Nigerian students who have demonstrated their academic and leadership abilities.

According to the sponsor of the program, Mr. Jim Ovia, the scholarship is designed as a medium for financial support to Nigerian undergraduate students, to help reduce the burden of fees payable to tertiary institutions.

Having invested more than 150 million Naira through this scholarship scheme, Mr. Ovia is dedicated to supporting already enrolled and potential tertiary students from the beginning of their undergraduate programs to the end of it.

The scholarship selects only 100 qualified applicants from the multiple applicants every year, and awards them fully funded scholarships m with annual allowance of 150,000 Naira.

Jim Ovia Scholarship Requirements 2025

  1. Student must be enrolled or aspiring to be enrolled in an accredited university in Nigeria
  2. An applicant must a citizen of Nigeria
  3. Applicant must demonstrate his or her academic abilities to ensure he is qualified for the scholarship
  4. After the scholarship is awarded, the awardee must maintain the academic abilities which proved him as best suited for the scholarship. In other words, after you are awarded the scholarship, you must not underperform the grade which fetched you the scholarship.
  5. Students from 100L to final year in the university are eligible.
  6. Applicant must not be on any other scholarship
  7. Masters or PhD students are not allowed to apply for the Jim Ovia scholarship.
  8. Online application must be submitted on or before the deadline as late application automatically disqualifies the applicant.

List of Documents Required for Jim Ovia Scholarship Foundation

The following documents must be provided by applicants of the scholarship:

  1. Original O’level or A’level certificate. Get this from the secondary school where you wrote your WAEC, NECO or GCE.
  2. Original UTME result
  3. Admission letter from your university
  4. Letter of recommendation from your HOD stating your current level, academic standing and CGPA and the letter must not be more older than 4 months.
  5. Government recognized Identification Card (ID Card)
  6. Recent passport
  7. Your school ID (for some schools in Nigeria which do not have this available for their students, you can obtain a written document from the faculty officer or HOD identifying you as a student of that particular institution)
  8. A copy of your CGPA stamped (medical students are expected to bring the result of their most recent examination showing their academic performance)

How to Apply for Jim Ovia Scholarship 2025 (Step by Step Guide)

  1. Firstly, head over to Jim Ovia Scholarship portal https://www.jimoviafoundation.org/
  2. If it is your first time starting your application, click on “New Applicants”. If you have started application before but just want to complete it, click on “returning applicants”.
  3. Create an account if you did not have one before. If you already have an account, login with your details.
  4. After signing up, an email will be sent to you containing a one-time login link. Go to your email, copy the one time login link and paste on your browser. This logs you in automatically. Then you can proceed to create a new password.
  5. Read through the application requirements and instructions.
  6. Scroll down and click on “Apply Now”.
  7. Enter all the personal information required and upload the necessary documents.
  8. Review application and submit.

NOTE: After application, you may not be able to make changes. Therefore, review thoroughly before submission.

How to Win a Jim Ovia Scholarship

There is only one major criterion for this scholarship and that is “academic abilities”.

To stand a better chance of winning, you have to start on time to build your academic credentials. Even your O’level is taken into account if you are still in 100L in the university.

Ensure you can defend your result. It is not all about having very good results but ensure you can stand your feet to speak for yourself.

General test might be given to applicants, from which the best 100 students are selected, ensure to perform outstandingly.
